Q: How does Crashpad Connections work?A: When military members need lodging for an extended TDY or upon PCS, they simply submit their dates, location, and preferences to Crashpad Connections. From there, we reach out to our network of vetted, fully furnished rentals to confirm availability and ensure each property meets DoD reimbursement standards. Once we’ve gathered options, we’ll send you a custom presentation featuring homes available during your TDY—with details like commute time, amenities, photos, and pricing. After you select a property, we connect you directly with the owner or manager, who will handle everything from check-in instructions to house rules and payment. It’s fast, easy, and completely free for military members.

Do I need a non-availability letter to stay off base? No, a non-availability letter is not required to stay off base. If your local installation has availability, your reimbursement will be limited to the on-base lodging per diem rate. Your Crashpad Coordinator will negotiate with the furnished property owner to ensure your nightly rate is as close to the lodging per diem rate. In most cases, the rate will be equal to the lodging per diem rate, but in certain markets, there might be out-of-pocket costs for larger family-sized properties due to housing availability and local costs/expenses. Please reference the Joint Travel Regulation (JTR Table 2-14) for more information:
-
Q: Do you provide monthly receipts for lodging expenses?A: We understand the importance of reimbursement for military members and ensure our property owners understand this as well. Property Owners are expected to provide monthly receipts for lodging expenses with a day-by-day breakdown of expenses, which can be submitted for reimbursement purposes.
-
Q: How does Crashpad Connections ensure the privacy and confidentiality of its clients?A: At Crashpad Connections, we take the privacy and confidentiality of our renters and property owners very seriously. To maintain the highest level of privacy, we have implemented several measures, including having our property owners and staff sign confidentiality agreements. These agreements outline their responsibility to protect and keep confidential any personal information they may come across during the connection process.
